We're Reducing Our Carbon Footprint One Tablecloth at a Time...
Creative Coverings has developed and implemented several sustainable components within its manufacturing, shipping, and laundry departments in an effort to create a positive effect on the environment within the events industry and to help various charitable organizations.
Renting linens is much "greener" than using a disposable table covering; it saves room in our nation's landfills. Each linen is used to its full potential, even after being damaged. Any linen that comes back damaged is recycled to create an alternate size table covering, table accent, or client swatch sample so that we dispose of a minimal amount of scrap.
Recently, we manufactured custom window coverings from unused fabric for Habitat for Humanity to help furnish the home for a single mother and her young daughter and created custom window coverings to help refurnish homes of families struck by the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. It was such an honor to partner with Habitat for Humanity and Event Pros Take Action (EPTA) and a special opportunity to be a part of a young mother's dream of homeownership and to help rebuild destroyed homes from some of New Orleans' forgotten families!Â
We are currently utilizing our resources to help manufacture custom fabric purses for a local family who has a young daughter with cerebral palsy. Â The purses are being sold to help raise funds for the cause and further medical research.
A Green Solution to an Age-Old Problem
In additional to recycling fabric, environmentally friendly canvas shipping bags were custom made for our clients to return dirty linens, saving around 600 cardboard boxes a year from being circulated. We teamed up with UPS to design these reusable bags and have recently started participating in the optional UPS Carbon Neutral program where every order shipped via UPS supports projects that offset the emissions of the shipment's transport.
Our laundering processes are eco-friendly because we choose product lines that are environmentally preferable and readily biodegradable, thus inhibiting any problems with wastewater treatment. This system was built around the core principals of both Green Seal and the U.S. EPA's Design for the Environment (DfE) program.Â
We are thrilled to help reduce our impact on the environment and pleased we can give our clients the comfort of knowing they are renting from a company that believes in sustainable business practices. We are excited to be working with Melissa Wagner-Gens, Developer of Emerald Certified Seminars! As a Brilliantly Green Sponsor, we are thrilled to become an Emerald Certified Vendor and to further our eco-friendly and sustainable business practices within the events industry!
